Mauritian Borders are Open 1st October 2021
On the 1st October the Mauritian borders are open to everyone. Start planning your holiday to this beautiful Island.
The protocol for non-vaccinated guests has not changed. The only extra requirement is COVID insurance for tourists and other people who don't live in Mauritius.
PCR tests effected upon arrival at the airport for non-hotel guests will be free for everyone, not just Mauritians.
Tests taken at the hotel will presumably be part of your package. Please check.
COVID cover is unnecessary for citizens, and no longer necessary for residents and occupational permit holders
When you enter Mauritius from the 1st of October:
PCR test within 72 hours of last port of embarkation.
You need to complete a Passenger Locator form.
If you are a tourist or non-resident/permit holder, you will need COVID insurance cover. Emirates' insurance apparently meets the requirements. Try and get similar cover from your airline or insurance broker.
If you are going to the hotel, you will get an antigen test upon arrival and another on Day 5.
If you are going to anywhere except a hotel:
FREE PCR test upon arrival at the airport. You don't have to wait for the results. If you are positive they will trace you through the Passenger Locator form and you will need to self-isolate. If you have symptoms, you will be sent either to a hospital or to the ENT (serious symptoms only at the ENT).
Buy an antigen test and test yourself on Day 5. If you are positive but asymptomatic, you self-isolate for 10 days. If you are positive and symptomatic, you will need to go to a local hospital. If you are severely symptomatic, you will be taken to the ENT hospital, which has the latest and best COVID equipment.
Enjoy your trip!
